07 Dec Euroports Corporate Sustainability
Euroports is proud to announce to be a signatory of the UN Global Compact sustainability initiative, the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative! We fully support its ten principles in terms of human rights, labour, environment, and anti-corruption.
By implementing the Ten Principles of the Global Compact, we work to achieve the United Nations Goals (SDGs), which align with our stakeholders’ expectations and to which we can most contribute.
Various measures are ongoing to implement the model and translate the 2030 objectives into tasks as part of our daily routine. It requires conscious effort and a sustainability mindset based on strategic, operational, and cultural integration. We firmly believe that through rooting integrated sustainability in the Euroports activities, we create an excellent foundation for achieving our 2030 sustainability objectives which include but are not limited to:
Good health and wellbeing, continue our efforts to reduce work-related incidents, ultimately to zero, provide a safe and healthy workplace for all our employees and contractors alike, and include the voice of our employees through a recently held wellbeing survey.
Water preservation, we work on the re-using (collecting and filtering) of water in many locations (water treatment facilities) and we are testing alternatives to using water for dust control or at least reducing the amounts needed in Spain and Italy.
Taking climate action, support the reduction of GHG emissions and development towards a low-carbon society.
To this end, Euroports is actively engaged in a program to reduce emissions through:
- Energy optimization roadmaps with a shift to more green energy usage.
- Sustainable ways to commute to and from our terminal and port locations.
- Investing in sustainable handling terminal and port equipment.
In the second quarter of 2022, we will publish our Sustainability Report for the first time on the website of the United Nations Global Compact.
We will continue to report our progress annually as improving sustainability data collection and reporting is a significant development area for overall sustainability management.
