09 Feb Euroports China breaks its volume records
Euroports China breaks its volume records! Euroports Changshu has handled in excess of 4 million tons of pulp in 2017, the largest annual volume the terminal has ever handled. The port maintains its position as the major pulp import hub in China, handling about 20% of the total import volumes in the country. This positions Changshu as one of the biggest import hubs worldwide and as Euroports largest forestry facility. In a world market perspective, almost 7% of the world’s market pulp came through the terminal. Last year Euroports also inaugurated a new pulp terminal in Gaolan in South China. In spite of the construction being delayed by damage caused by Typhoon Hato, the strongest typhoon to hit China in over 50 years, the terminal handled almost 500,000 tons of pulp in its first year of operation. The new warehouses are now nearing completion and will shortly be in service. With two strong terminals in place in China, the Euroports China team has set itself a new goal – to cross the 6 million ton barrier!
