12 Mai Dry-Bulk Terminal in Antwerp: Euroports Enters Construction Phase After Completing Demolition

Euroports redefined its dry-bulk strategy in Antwerp in response to shifting market conditions. That repositioning is now entering a decisive new phase: the demolition stage is complete, and construction is ready to begin at the Port of Antwerp-Bruges.

A Strategy Aligned with Long-Term Market Needs

The repositioning is part of Euroports’ broader mission to operate an efficient, agile and sustainable global network of port terminals and logistics solutions. In Antwerp — one of the largest port clusters in Northern Europe — this translates into a deliberate effort to rationalise the dry-bulk footprint and replace ageing infrastructure with purpose-built capacity.

What the Investment Covers

The programme encompasses two sequential phases: demolition, now finalised, followed by construction and infrastructure upgrades.

Demolition phase (completed):

  • Removal of aged crane infrastructure
  • Demolition of inefficient, outdated warehouses

Construction phase (now underway):

  • Construction of a new dry-bulk warehouse of more than 32,000 m²
  • Upgrading of existing warehouses to better align with current market requirements
  • Installation of a solar energy system, developed in partnership with C-energy and Getec Benelux

The solar energy component is consistent with Euroports’ ongoing sustainability commitments. In 2026 via our partnership with C-energy and our energy purchasing strategy, Euroports Belgium will become 100% green regarding its electricity consumption (10% being produced on-site).

Next Steps

With demolition finalised, construction works are now ready to begin. The outcome will be a modernised dry-bulk terminal with significantly improved storage capacity, upgraded handling infrastructure, and on-site renewable energy generation.
